Random guy on the PCT told me to stop overpacking food and he was right

Last summer on the John Muir Trail I was carrying like 12 days of dehydrated meals, way too heavy. Some dude at a resupply point said 'you know you can stash a box ahead of time for like 15 bucks right?' I had never even thought of that. Now I plan my resupply spots on CalTopo before I leave and it saves me like 4 pounds of pack weight. Has anyone else had a random stranger give them a tip that just clicked?

Damn that's a solid piece of advice right there.

That "solid piece of advice" line reminded me of my buddy who tried that exact move and saved his butt on a project. He was sweating bullets before and then it worked out way smoother than he thought.

My buddy Tom used that exact advice on a client presentation last month - he was about to scrap the whole thing and start over. Then he just framed it differently and the client ate it up. @the_rowan probably has half the people on this forum doing that now without even knowing it. Ngl, it's kinda funny how one simple trick works better than all the fancy stuff people try.
