Talked to a ranger in Yosemite who said the Mist Trail is 'the highway' now. He told me to try the John Muir Trail up to Nevada Fall instead. Did that last week and saw maybe 10 people total until the top.

Always took the Mist Trail because it's the famous one. That ranger gave you solid advice. Hiking the John Muir Trail instead was so peaceful, just the sound of my own footsteps. Changed my whole view on avoiding crowds in parks. Sometimes the less popular path gives you the real experience.

Disagree with @shane_park92 honestly. The Mist Trail is famous for a reason, the views are insane up close. Feels like you're missing the point if you skip it just to avoid people.
