Update: That one river crossing on the Lost Coast Trail that took us 4 hours
We planned for a quick ford at Black Sands Beach, but the tide was way higher than the chart said. Ended up waiting over an hour for it to drop, then spent another 45 minutes scouting up and down for a safe spot. The actual crossing, with packs held high, was maybe 10 minutes. The whole mess ate up half a day we didn't have. It made me miss the old paper tide tables I used to trust more. Has anyone else had a tide chart be that wrong on the northern section?

Trusting those tide charts is a joke. I got pinned for three hours at Miller Flat last year in the same situation.

Three hours at Miller Flat? That sounds like a nightmare.

Yeah tide charts used to be gospel for me too. That exact thing happened at Seal Cove and it totally changed my mind. Now I just add a big buffer no matter what.
