Vent: My old route planning was just scribbles on a map until I got lost in the Wind River Range
Now I use CalTopo to plot everything, even my water sources, after spending a cold night off-trail. Anyone else have a specific tool that saved them from a real mess?

The Wind River Range with just scribbles on a map? That's a whole new level of brave, or maybe crazy. I got turned around for two hours in a state park with bad notes once. Wandering off trail up there with no real plan sounds like a fast way to become a news story.
