A guy at the Columbus ReStore told me my pallet bar was a death trap, and he was right
I built a pallet bar for my patio last spring and I was pretty proud of it. Used about 8 pallets I grabbed free from a tile shop on the west side, sanded everything down, slapped some stain on it. Then a guy at the ReStore in Columbus looked at my phone pics and said flat out, "that thing's gonna fold with three people leaning on it." I blew him off at first. But he pointed out I had nothing tying the legs together side to side, just screws straight down into the base. Two weeks later my brother in law leaned on the corner at a cookout and the whole thing racked bad. So I tore the legs off and rebuilt it with a 2x4 frame underneath, cross bracing on all four sides, and lag bolts instead of the 2 inch screws I had before. Thing is rock solid now, I've had six guys sitting on it. Anyone else get called out on a build and end up glad they listened?
