My cheap paver edging turned into a 2 foot gap by spring

Layed plastic edging from Lowes around my patio last September and by April the frost had pushed it out so far you could boot a soccer ball through the gap. Swapped it out for 4 inch steel edging stakes last weekend, took about 6 hours for a 40 foot run. Anyone else had plastic edging fail on them after one winter in a cold zone?
