My dad laughed at my raised beds in 2019, now he's asking me to build him six
When I put in my first raised garden beds back in 2019, my dad told me I was wasting plywood and a Saturday on a fad that would rot by fall. I used plain 2x10 cedar from the yard in Fresno, lined the bottoms with hardware cloth, and filled them with a mix of topsoil and compost I got for $40 a truckload. Four seasons later those boxes are still solid, and the tomatoes out of them beat anything I ever grew in the ground. Now he wants six of them along his back fence and keeps texting me about lumber prices. Has anyone else had a build win someone over only after they watched it hold up for a couple winters?
