My projector died halfway through a showing of 'The Room' and it was the best part
Last Saturday, my old Epson projector gave out exactly 47 minutes into our bad movie night, right as Tommy Wiseau was throwing a football. The screen went black, the audio cut, and the room of eight people just sat in silence for a solid ten seconds. I'm torn: one side says a technical failure ruins the communal experience, but the other side argues the awkward silence was a perfect, unintentional tribute to the movie's own bizarre energy. We ended up finishing it on a laptop, but the breakdown was the most memorable part. Has a piece of gear failing ever accidentally improved your viewing of a truly bad film?

Did the breakdown feel more real than the movie, like @annajenkins' VHS thing?

Saw a tweet once where a VHS tape chewed itself up during Troll 2 and the host said it was an upgrade.

Troll 2 is so perfectly terrible that any technical malfunction can only improve the viewing experience. It deserves every bit of mockery it gets, that's what makes it a cult classic.
