Shoutout to my cousin for defending 'Troll 2' as a masterpiece
He said the acting is so wooden it becomes a style choice, which made me watch it again last night. Anyone have a bad movie where the worst part is actually the best part?

What's the line between a terrible performance and a performance so terrible it's art? Like in "The Room," Tommy Wiseau's delivery isn't just bad acting, it's a whole new language of confusion. Every awkward pause and weird line read makes you wonder if he's from another planet. That movie would be nothing without its glorious, baffling failure to act.

But is it really art or just a bad movie people laugh at? Feels like we give way too much credit to stuff that's just poorly made. The Room is funny because it's a mess, not because Tommy Wiseau meant to create some deep statement. Calling it a new language feels like trying too hard to make it important.

Has anyone else found that the most embarrassing parts of a bad movie are actually what make it stick with you? I used to hate-watch things like "Birdemic" with friends, and we'd spend the whole time laughing at the terrible acting and weird special effects. But somewhere along the line, I stopped feeling superior about it. Those awful performances started feeling real to me, like watching someone try their hardest and fail in a way that's more honest than a polished Hollywood movie. The Room works the same way for me. Tommy Wiseau's lines are so bad they're memorable, but they also make me think about what he was trying to say, even if he didn't know how to say it. Calling it a new language is a stretch, but I think there's something genuine in that failure that's worth paying attention to.

Oh man, you nailed it. Trying to call it deep art is just missing the point. The magic is in the total train wreck of it all, like that weird flower shop scene that goes nowhere, or the way everyone says "oh hi Mark" for no reason. It's so bad it wraps back around to being fun, but that's not the same as being good. Giving it too much credit just kills the joke.
