Captions definitely make bad movies funnier, that part is true. But saying it's the "secret" to enjoying Birdemic sounds like too much. The movie is already a masterpiece of terrible filmmaking. You don't need captions to appreciate the bad acting and awful special effects. That stuff is obvious enough on its own. Captions might help catch some extra bad dialogue, sure. Still feels like people overthink this one.

Oh man, this reminds me of how people do the same thing with everything these days. Like you can't just enjoy something for what it is, you have to find some "hack" or "trick" to make it better. I see it with TV shows, music, even restaurants. Everyone's always looking for the secret way to experience something instead of just letting it be. Birdemic is perfect because the whole point is how bad it is. You don't need to add layers on top of it. It's like when people put captions on comedians and then complain the timing is off. Sometimes the raw experience is the whole joke. Idk, maybe it's just me but I think people have forgotten how to just sit with something and laugh at it without overcomplicating it.

Honestly, I just read an article about how captions actually help people with auditory processing issues catch things they'd miss otherwise, not just for bad movies. So it's not always about overthinking, sometimes it's about literally being able to follow the plot. But for Birdemic specifically, ngl, I think the raw experience is half the fun. Tbh, I watched it once without captions and the sheer confusion at what the characters were even saying added to the charm. The badness is so pure you don't need any help finding it.
