Made my 100th sourdough loaf and it was the worst one yet...
I hit 100 loaves of sourdough last Saturday and thought I'd celebrate by baking my best one ever. Instead it came out flat and gummy, like a brick with a bad attitude. Turns out I forgot to feed my starter for 3 days before and it was basically dead... lesson learned the hard way. My husband still ate two slices but I could tell he was just being nice. Has anyone else hit a big number and totally bombed the bake?

Made my 100th sourdough loaf and it was the worst one yet" - sounds about right. I hit loaf number 50 a few months back and my oven decided to die halfway through the bake. Had to finish it in a toaster oven and the thing came out like a hockey puck with a sunken top. My cat wouldn't even sniff it. Your husband eating two slices is a true saint move, mine just stares at failures and asks if we're ordering pizza. The starter neglect is brutal though, I've done that too many times. Three days without food and they act like they've been starved for a month.

Add three more days of neglect and they start plotting revenge, @reese_lee9.

So does @reese_lee9 think the starter revenge is real or just bad timing?
