My sourdough starter got a name change and it actually worked better
I had two jars going, one I called 'Fred' and the other just 'Starter'. Fred was my main one, but he got a bit lazy. Last month, my friend said to rename the backup jar something fun, so I called it 'Bubbles'. I swear, Bubbles got twice as active in just a week, making my loaves way lighter. Has anyone else had a starter that seemed to have a personality?

Naming them totally works. My old starter was called 'The Blob' and it was slow. Renamed it 'Rocket' after my kid's favorite cartoon, and it perked right up. I keep a backup named 'Chill Dough' that I feed less often. It sounds silly, but giving them a bit of character makes you pay more attention to their care.

My neighbor's sourdough is named "Frank" after Frankenstein. She swears it came back to life after she left it in the fridge for two months. Now she talks to it while she feeds it, like it's a pet.

Yeah I had a starter I called "Lazy Larry" cause it never rose much. Switched to calling it "Bubbles" and started feeding it with warm water instead of cold. It's like it knew, idk. Doubled in size after two feeds.
