My stand mixer died mid-batch and I almost lost it
My KitchenAid finally gave up after 7 years right in the middle of mixing a double batch of brioche at 6AM yesterday. It just started smoking and the dough was a total loss, $35 worth of butter and eggs gone. I finished the batch by hand kneading for 40 minutes, has anyone else's machine died at the worst possible moment?

That 6AM thing is brutal. Hand kneading 40 minutes is a hell of a workout though.
