Dropped $34 on a silicone mat that made my cookies spread into one giant blob
I bought a fancy nonstick silicone baking mat at a store in Austin for $34 because the package said it was the best thing for cookies. My chocolate chip cookies melted into one giant sheet and I had to throw the whole batch away, which was about $12 in butter and chocolate down the drain. Has anyone else had a silicone mat ruin their bake, or did I just get a bad one?
Wasted about $40 on one of those mats last year and had the SAME thing happen with my snickerdoodles. They just kept sliding and merging until I basically had one huge cinnamon cookie pancake. I was so mad because I'd heard nothing but good things and everyone online swears by them. What finally worked for me was going back to plain parchment paper, cookies come out perfect every time and it's way cheaper. Sorry about your batch, losing good butter and chocolate hurts worse than the mat itself.
