My attempt at a 3-ingredient peanut butter cookie turned into a smoky mess

I followed a recipe from a blog that promised easy cookies with just peanut butter, sugar, and an egg, but after 8 minutes in a 350-degree oven, they melted into a single, burnt sheet that set off my smoke alarm. I learned that some recipes online are just plain wrong and you can't skip the flour without a real binder. Has anyone else had a 'simple' recipe go totally sideways on them?

Yeah, that's a classic. I tried a two-ingredient banana pancake thing once. It was just banana and egg. The blog photos looked great. Mine turned into sweet, sticky scrambled eggs that welded themselves to my non-stick pan. Had to soak it for two days. The real lesson is that most of those "hack" recipes are just someone's failed experiment they decided to post. They never test them properly.

The two-ingredient pancake thing actually works if you mash the banana completely first. The key is no lumps, just a smooth paste to mix with the egg. It's still a weird texture, but it won't stick like that.

Ugh, that sounds awful, but also kind of familiar. I'm curious, did the blog at least mention what type of peanut butter to use? I feel like the oil in natural peanut butter would make a huge mess compared to the processed kind. That might be the missing detail that wrecks the whole thing.
