My cake was always dry until I tried adding a full cup of applesauce instead of oil. It worked, but now I'm wondering if it's a legit hack or just a weird fluke.

Wait, you can actually replace oil with applesauce? I always thought that was just some weird health food thing that would ruin a cake. Tried it in a boxed spice cake mix last week and it was way more moist than usual, didn't taste like apple at all. Totally a legit hack.

My buddy Steve swapped oil for applesauce in brownies last month. They came out so fudgy his kids didn't even notice.
