My neighbor's sourdough starter changed my mind about discard recipes
I used to think sourdough discard recipes were a waste of time. Like why bother with pancakes or crackers when you can just toss the discard and start fresh? Then my neighbor Carol brought over a basket of her discard cinnamon rolls last Tuesday. She told me she's been making them for 3 years and never throws away a single gram of starter. Took one bite and I got it. Now I'm hoarding discard in my fridge like it's gold. Anyone else have a moment where a friend's bake totally flipped your opinion on something?

Started hoarding my own discard after my sister brought over sourdough brownies that were honestly better than the regular ones I make. She said the tangy flavor just works with chocolate and now I keep a jar labeled "brownie starter" next to my main one. Never thought I'd be that person with multiple starters in the fridge but here we are.

Oh man, are you me? I started hoarding discard after I accidentally made sourdough chocolate chip cookies that were way better than my usual recipe. Now I've got three jars in my fridge - one for bread, one labeled "cookie discard" and a secret one for pancakes. My husband thinks I've lost it but the tang really does something magical with sweet stuff. I even tried a discard chocolate loaf last week and it was dangerously good.

Wait, three jars is considered hoarding? I've got four and I thought that was rookie numbers. My wife found the secret pancake jar and now she keeps asking why the regular pancakes aren't "tangy enough.
