My sister told me to freeze the cookie dough balls for an hour before baking

I didn't listen, and they spread into one giant flat cookie sheet. Anyone have a good fix for overly thin chocolate chip cookies?

Been there, done that, got the cookie pancake. In my experience, you can crumble it up and use it as ice cream topping.

Honestly, that sounds like a pretty good salvage plan. I once tried to fix a similar mess by just calling it a "cookie brittle" and breaking it into pieces. It was still a single layer of sweet, buttery failure.

But is it really a failure if it still tastes good?

That's the thing about baking, and honestly about a lot of things in life, we get so caught up in what something is supposed to look like that we forget to ask if it still does the job. A flat cookie might not win a beauty contest but it still tastes just as good crumbled over ice cream or eaten out of a bowl with a spoon. I've started to think we could all use a little more of that "cookie pancake" thinking, and focus on what we actually get instead of what we planned for.
