My sourdough starter exploded all over the kitchen ceiling last night

I left it in a glass jar with a loose lid and it must've doubled in size within 3 hours before I got home, so when I walked in the door the pressure blew the lid off and now I've got sticky doughy bits dripping from the light fixture, has anyone else had a starter get that aggressive out of nowhere?

Honestly I used to think people were being dramatic about sourdough exploding but now I get it, that's straight up terrifying and I'm never leaving a lid loose again.
