My sourdough starter totally died after I left it out in the cold last week
I forgot to bring my jar inside during that freeze, and now it's all watery and smells like paint thinner. Has anyone had luck reviving a starter that got too cold or should I just start over from scratch?

Leave the watery part out and feed it warm flour water.

That's exactly what I do too. The watery bit will ruin the texture if you're not careful, have you tried this method yet?

My first go round with sourdough I threw out two starters that did this exact thing because I thought they were goners. Finally tried the warm flour water trick last winter and it totally brought one back to life after three days of feeding, I was shocked how resilient they actually are.
