Rant: That fancy silicone baking mat set I bought for $35 was a total waste

I got a 3-pack of those non-stick silicone mats from a trendy kitchen store last month, thinking they'd replace my parchment paper forever... but after 4 uses they're all stained and the edges curl up like crazy. The cookies spread way too thin and I ended up trashing half a batch of my grandma's sugar cookie recipe. Has anyone else had luck with a different brand, or should I just stick to paper?

Man people get so bent out of shape over baking mats. Like yeah they get stained and curl a bit but who cares if your cookies come out fine.

@the_max man I feel called out. I once spent 20 minutes trying to decide if my oven mitt was really "heat resistant up to 500 degrees" like the box said. My cookies come out fine, my hands don't get burned, but here I am googling "oven mitt vs potholder debate" at 11pm on a Tuesday.

I had a buddy who spent 40 minutes one time reading reviews on silicone spatulas. Forty minutes. People were mad about the handle being 2 inches too short or the color fading after a year. It's the same thing with kitchen towels, coffee mugs, you name it. In my experience, most of this stuff works fine for years if you just use it and don't overthink it.
