Sour cream in cake batter sounded dumb, now I get it
My aunt kept insisting I add a cup of sour cream to my chocolate cake last week and I thought she was nuts. It came out so moist that my husband asked if I'd bought it from a bakery, then I tried it with the lemon cake too and now I won't bake without it. Anyone else have a weird ingredient that turned out to be the secret?
Mayo does the same thing for me. I put a spoonful in my banana bread and nobody can ever guess what it is, they just say it's the best they've had. Took me forever to try it but now I'm never going back.
