Spent $70 on a cherry pitter that barely works

I bought this fancy cherry pitter last month for $70 because I was making pies for a church sale in Omaha. Half the cherries came out squashed and the other half still had pits stuck in them, so I gave up and did it by hand with a chopstick. Anyone else waste money on a single-use gadget that just made the job harder?
