Finally picked the shared hosting over VPS for my blog and it's fine
I run a small retro gaming blog that gets maybe 300 hits a day. For a year I agonized over upgrading to a VPS because everyone said shared hosting is TRASH. Last month I just stuck with the $12 a month shared plan and added a simple cache plugin instead. My page load time went from 3 seconds to under 1. I probably saved $40 a month for something I didn't need. Has anyone else found a cheap setup that works way better than expected?

Read an article about a guy running a popular tech blog on basic shared hosting for years with just good caching. Totally proves that 90% of us don't need VPS (unless you're trying to host a Minecraft server or something crazy).

Honestly used to think you absolutely needed a VPS for anything serious, but reading through that same article kinda flipped my thinking lol. The way they optimized caching and database queries to run smoothly on shared hosting was pretty eye opening. Makes me wonder how many people are overpaying for server power they'll never actually use.
