Got caught in that weird storm at the county fair last July, now I watch the sky like a hawk
I was at the Johnson County Fair last July, just standing in line for a corn dog, when this storm came out of nowhere. The sky went from blue to this gross greenish color in like 5 minutes, and the wind picked up so fast it knocked over a whole tent of crafts. People were running everywhere, and I saw this old guy just grab his grandkid and dive under a table. I used to think weather alerts on my phone were just noise, but after that day I actually check them. The storm lasted maybe 20 minutes but it felt like forever. Has anyone else had a random weather event totally change how they plan stuff?

My buddy was at the Tulsa State Fair when a microburst hit. Said he watched a Porta Potty fly past him like it was a toy. He still gets jumpy when the wind picks up too fast, even if it's just a normal storm.

Wait, he actually saw a Porta Potty flying through the air like that? That's wild... I mean, those things are heavy too, so the wind must have been something else. Your buddy's lucky he didn't get hit by it, that would have been a really bad day. I'd be jumpy too after seeing something like that... it's one thing to hear about storms but another to see a plastic bathroom fly by you.

Man that porta potty story is insane. I get the jumpiness though. After that fair storm I started keeping a weather radio in my truck and I check the radar like it's my job before I go anywhere further than the grocery store. Even a cloudy sky makes me nervous now, especially if there's any weird green tint to it. I actually canceled a camping trip last month because the forecast said "possible thunderstorms" and my buddies thought I was overreacting. But you know what, I'd rather be safe and miss a trip than be stuck in a tent watching stuff fly past.
