My coffee guy in Pittsburgh said grind finer, I argued for 2 weeks, he was right
Kept making bitter cups and blamed the beans, finally tried his setting at 14 clicks down on my hand grinder and it turned into the smoothest pour I've had in months. Anyone else stubbornly ignore advice until you waste 2 bags of good coffee?
Damn, that hits different. I used to swear my coarse grind was the move until I actually tried going finer and realized I'd been making mud water for weeks. Now I just listen to the guy at the shop.
Swapped to a coarser grind years ago because some blog said it made coffee sweeter. Drank sour, weak cups for way too long and blamed my water. Finally caved and ran it through the finer side of my grinder last week. First cup tasted like actual chocolate instead of lemon juice. Still not fully convinced I need to ditch the old habit, but the proof is in the mug.
