My neighbor's kid changed my view on lawn watering in 10 minutes

I've always been a morning sprinkler person. Set the timer for 5 AM, water the whole lawn for 30 minutes every day. My neighbor's teenage son saw me doing it last weekend and said "you're just making the top layer wet, the roots stay shallow." He showed me his setup: one deep soak twice a week. I tried it for two weeks now and my grass looks better with half the water. Anyone else had a kid call out your old habits and it actually made sense?

My neighbor's 14-year-old grandson told me the same thing last summer. I was skeptical but tried it on my back lawn and honestly it does seem greener with less effort. Still not sure it's worth changing my whole routine over though.

Wait, did you read that article that came out a few weeks ago about how lawn companies are basically making us overthink this stuff? I saw some study that said most people water way too much and actually hurt their grass.
