The self-checkout at my local grocery store is lying to us
I went to the Kroger on Main Street last Tuesday and watched three people in a row get flagged for 'unexpected item in bagging area' while holding nothing but a loaf of bread. The machine says 'please wait for assistance' but the one employee covering eight lanes was in the back getting a mop. We are training ourselves to accept a system that plain does not work, and nobody is talking about the real cost in lost time. Has anyone else timed how long these false alarms actually add to a basic trip?
