My old copy of Slaughterhouse-Five got a note from a stranger after 15 years
I pulled my high school copy off the shelf last week and found a folded note tucked between pages 87 and 88, some kid wrote 'this scene kept me going' in pencil next to the Dresden part. Made me think about how that book got banned in 4 different districts back in the 70s and 80s, yet here it was passing hands quietly like that. My local library still keeps it behind the desk after a complaint in 2019, but the copy itself is worn soft from use. Anyone else find little markings or notes in older banned editions that feel more alive than the clean new prints?
