Pro tip: the people screaming about 'age appropriate' books never seem to have read past page 12 of the ones they want pulled
I sat through a school board meeting in Modesto where a mom read one paragraph of a novel out loud and demanded it be removed, but when I asked her afterwards if she'd finished the book she said she stopped after chapter 2 because it 'got worse', and I just keep wondering how we're supposed to take any of this seriously when the whole case is built on a book nobody actually read.
Sure, finishing a book shouldn't be a requirement to have a say, but if you're asking a board to pull it, you should at least know what's in it. Reading one page out loud and calling it a case is weak, and it makes it easy for people to write off the whole complaint.
