Showerthought: most people arguing about a banned book in their district have never read it, and the checkout list proves it
I pulled the challenge records for our library in Springfield and 9 of the 11 titles on the list had fewer than 3 checkouts in the year before they got flagged. People are mad about books nobody in town was even reading, which tells me the fight is about the list itself, not the pages. If you want to actually help, request the book at your library, because demand is the one number that counts. Has anyone else looked at their own district's checkout data and seen the same thing?
