Banned from a recipe group for posting a simple fix
Tbh, I got booted from a Facebook cooking group for saying you can swap buttermilk with milk and lemon juice. It was in a thread about a biscuit recipe, and I even linked the ratio from a baking site I trust. The admin called it 'dangerous advice' because someone tried it once and it curdled on them in Tulsa. Has anyone else gotten axed for sharing basic kitchen tricks that just work?
Got a buddy who got thrown out of a sourdough group for saying you can use bread flour instead of all purpose in a pinch. He even mentioned it works fine for a casual loaf, just a bit chewier. The mods went nuts, saying he was gonna ruin people's gluten structure or something. He tried to explain he'd done it for years, but they banned him before he could finish typing. Still cracks me up whenever I see a baking group acting like the secret police over flour.
