Comparing two cable testers after a 6 hour outage taught me cheap isnt always dumb
Got banned from a contractor forum for saying my $45 Klein tester beat out a $600 Fluke on a job near Akron last month. The fancy one kept giving false readings on old Cat5 runs because it assumed perfect wiring, while the cheap one just showed continuity and let me think. It was like using a sledgehammer to hang a picture, sometimes basic tools force you to actually trace the problem instead of trusting a screen. Anyone else find that pricier gear can hide the obvious fix until you switch back to something simpler?
