Got banned from a Facebook garden group for saying Epsom salts did nothing for my tomatoes, and 3 people messaged me privately saying I was right
Spent $12 on a bag two summers back and saw zero difference, which is exactly what a soil test tech in Boise said would happen, but try telling that to the folks who swear by it. So which is it, does Epsom salt actually do anything or are we all just hoping?

Wait, THREE people messaged you privately? That's the part that gets me. So there's a whole silent crowd out there who knows it's bunk but won't say it out loud because the Epsom salt believers will jump down their throat. That says a lot right there. I did the same thing years back, sprinkled it around my peppers, saw nothing, felt like a dummy for buying into it. The soil science folks pretty much all say the same thing, unless your dirt is actually low on magnesium, it's just money in the trash. Most garden soil isn't low on it, so yeah, we're mostly just hoping.
