Got banned from a gardening forum for saying you don't need to boil maple taps

I posted that I just drill, tap, and hang a bucket with no sterilization step. Been doing it for 8 years in Vermont, never had an issue. The mods called it reckless and booted me overnight. Has anyone else dealt with gatekeeping like this over simple methods?

Three days for not washing eggs seems like a lot honestly. Like who gets that worked up over egg washing norms.
