Just walked into a Starbucks in downtown Austin and heard the barista tell a customer their drink was canceled because they posted a bad review online

The manager actually pulled up her name on the system and pointed at the screen saying "you're blacklisted in our franchise" right there in front of everyone, has anyone else run into businesses tracking customers like this?

Last week I saw a TikTok from a guy in New York who got banned from a local coffee chain for the same thing. He posted a video saying their cold brew tasted burnt, and the next day his order was canceled when he tried to use their app. The owner responded in the comments and admitted they track customers through their phone number and email. It's getting way too common now with all this customer management software. Starbucks probably uses some third party database that flags people across all their franchise locations. Honestly feels like we're being watched every time we buy a coffee.

Yeah I saw that same TikTok and it kinda blew my mind honestly. I read somewhere that some of these coffee chains use software from a company called Olo or something like that where they can literally flag customer accounts for anything. Kinda creepy how a simple complaint about burnt coffee gets you permanent banned from their whole system lol.

Honestly, I'm just waiting for the day I get blacklisted from my local gas station for joking about their hot dog roller looking like a science experiment. @grant478 that whole thing with the cold brew guy is wild though, I saw that same video. Makes you wonder what they're putting in the fine print when you sign up for their loyalty points, right? I probably already have a file somewhere that says "this guy complains about foam" just from the look I gave the barista last week.
