Reddit removed my comment for saying the quiet part about tipping culture
Last month I replied to a thread about bad service and mentioned that maybe the 22% tip prompt is why some servers act entitled, not the other way around. Instant ban from the sub, no warning. I work at a busy diner and I've seen both sides, the cooks who bust their butts and the waitstaff who stand around on their phones. But here's the thing, tip culture has turned basic hospitality into a hostage negotiation. We all pretend the menu price is the price, then guilt you into adding 3 extra bucks per drink. I said that online and got told I'm cheap and hate workers. No, I just think restaurants should pay a real wage and put the real total on the board. That comment got me silenced by a mod who probably never worked a Friday night rush. Has anyone else been booted for saying tipping should be optional, not a moral test?

Oh man, I got nuked from a local food sub for joking that my tip should cover my date's therapy bill after the waitress judged our split check. I even worked tables for two years, so I know the guilt trip from both sides, and somehow that made it worse.
