Vent: That week in Austin when everything just went right and it freaked me out more than any bad week ever has
My car didn't break down, I got a random $200 refund check in the mail, and my neighbor brought over homemade brisket all in the same 5 days, and I spent the whole time waiting for the other shoe to drop cause I'm so used to getting banned just for pointing out obvious stuff like that on other forums, has anyone else ever had a suspiciously perfect stretch that made you more paranoid than relieved?

Man that's the most relatable thing I've read in a while. It's like your brain literally can't process good stuff happening all at once so it just assumes something terrible is about to crash into your life. That brisket detail is wild though, homemade brisket from a neighbor is like winning a small lottery.
I think it's just that we're all so used to the universe kicking us in the shins that a smooth week feels like a trap. Your brain starts looking for the catch because it's trying to protect you from being blindsided. But maybe sometimes things just actually go okay for no reason, you know?

You know what @jakewhite, I used to think the opposite but this really opened my eyes!

Hold up though, isn't the real lesson here that we should be MORE suspicious when things go right? Like that brisket could have been dry as sawdust and the neighbor was just trying to get rid of it, you know? Getting too comfortable when life is smooth just sets you up for a harder fall when the other shoe drops, which it always does.
