My neighbor swore off the old Teflon pan after one scratch, and I'm not sure that's fair
We were talking over the fence last Saturday and he said he tossed a $30 nonstick skillet after a single scratch because of the whole PFOA scare from years back. I get being careful, but a scratched pan isn't the same as the old chemical problem, and he replaced it with a $90 ceramic one that chipped in 4 months. It got me wondering how many decent tools get dumped over a recall headline that came out way before the product in your kitchen was even made. I still use a cheap pan I bought at a hardware store in 2019 and it's fine. So how do you all sort out which ban or recall actually applies to the thing in your hands? Are there any good places to look up the real dates and model numbers?
