PSA: the recalled baby walkers from 2004, and the seller on Facebook Marketplace who called me dramatic
Saw a listing in Columbus for a baby walker with the exact wheel design that got the whole category pulled in the early 2000s, and the guy wanted $40 for it. I messaged him about the recall and he came back with 'my kids used it fine, you're being dramatic.' Here's what people get wrong: these got banned because kids rolled down stairs, not because of some random safety fuss, and the deaths were real. I know because my aunt worked intake at a children's hospital in Dayton and saw two of those cases in one summer, both under a year old. Old gear like this doesn't get safer with age, the plastic gets brittle and the brakes were weak from day one. If you spot one at a yard sale, report the listing instead of arguing with the seller. Anyone got a link to the actual CPSC notice so I can stop typing it out from memory?
