A customer's comment about my neckline cleanup made me switch up my routine
This guy came in for a trim last month and after I was done, he just said 'the back feels a bit rough, like you rushed the neck shave.' I realized I was just doing a quick pass with the trimmer and calling it good. Now I take an extra minute, use a hot towel first, and go over it with a single blade razor. The difference in how smooth it feels is huge. Anyone else have a small step they added that made a big difference in finish?

Man, that pre-shave oil tip from @the_susan is brilliant. It's exactly like what @morgan_king36 said about polish on cabinets, it's that one secret layer that makes everything else work better. You could even warm the oil up in your hands first, I bet that would make it sink into the skin even more for an insane smooth finish. That little bit of extra care is what turns a regular job into something people talk about.

Honestly, that extra minute is everything. It's the difference between a good cut and a great one that people remember. I started using pre-shave oil before my straight razor work on necklines, just a tiny drop. It completely changed the glide and got rid of that tugging feeling. Clients notice the smoothness right away. That small change made my finishes way more consistent.

Oh wow, that's a great tip. It reminds me of how a little furniture polish makes old cabinets look brand new with almost no effort.
