Almost nicked a client's ear last Tuesday because I skipped my usual guard check
I was at my chair on a busy Tuesday at the shop on 5th, about 20 minutes into a fade, when I dropped my 1.5 guard on the floor and grabbed it without wiping it down. Turns out a tiny clump of hair clogged the tooth, and the clipper grabbed a little skin near his ear before I caught it. I stopped right away, showed him the spot, and cleaned the guard tooth by tooth with my brush before putting it back on. He was cool about it, but I felt sick for the rest of the cut and comped him $10 off. Now I check every guard under the light before it touches a head, no exceptions. Has anyone else had a clogged guard sneak up on them mid cut, and how do you keep yours clear during a rush?
