Am I the only one who thinks the hot towel machine changed the whole shop vibe in Louisville?
I was cutting at a shop on Bardstown Road about 6 months ago and the owner pulled out an old hot towel machine he bought at a flea market for $40. He started wrapping every client's face for 30 seconds before the straight razor neck shave, and guys literally started tipping more. Now half the barbers I know say it's a gimmick that just slows you down, and the other half swear it's the best $40 they ever spent. I keep going back and forth on whether it's real service or just theater. Has anyone else tried this in their chair, and did your regulars actually notice?
