That $200 clipper story totally changed my mind about buying stuff I can't test first.

Three months is actually better than my track record. I bought a "pro grade" set of clippers once that sounded like a dying lawnmower right out of the box, but I kept convincing myself it would break in. Ended up using a cheap pair from the drugstore for six months while the expensive ones sat in a drawer. Now I just figure anything over a hundred bucks needs to be held in my hand first or I'm basically lighting cash on fire.

Paid 200 bucks for a fancy brick, huh? That's a tough way to learn the "try before you buy" lesson. Guess you could call it an expensive subscription to never buying online again.
