Chat with a retiree made me rethink how I fade

Old guy came in last week, been cutting hair since the 70s, told me I'm overthinking my blends. He showed me one simple trick with the trimmer open and it cut my fade time in half. Anybody else have an old school barber drop wisdom on you?

Love hearing stuff like this man. Old school barbers always got some shortcut that makes you feel dumb for not figuring it out sooner. Glad he hooked you up with something that actually works.

Oh wait, I gotta say something here actually. The old school barber sounds like it was about 50 years old not 30, right? You said "old school barbers" but the post was talking about one specific guy who's been cutting hair since the 80s. Not really "old school" in that sense, more like just experienced. I get what you mean though, those guys have been doing it forever and they pick up little tricks along the way. The thing is, younger barbers can be just as good with the right training and passion. It's not really about the age of the school, it's about the person behind the scissors. But yeah, glad you said what you said because it's true that some of those older barbers have some gold nuggets of knowledge.
