Switched to a magnetic guard holder, no more misplaced clippers
I got tired of fumbling for the right guard on the shelf every cut, so I bolted a $12 magnetic strip to my station wall last week. It cut my setup time by maybe 20 seconds per client, and I haven't lost a #2 guard since. Anyone else tried a magnetic setup or do you stick with the classic drawer?
Oh I saw somewhere that stacking magnets close together can mess with the alignment if they're too strong, but for lighter stuff like trimmers it should be fine. I actually put one of those strips on the inside of my cabinet door and it holds my scissors and a few clippers, but I never thought about adding a second one lower for the smaller tools. My old barber used to keep a strip on the wall behind his chair for the everyday stuff and then a drawer for the backup blades, so the second row idea makes sense for keeping the common ones within reach without digging around. Might grab another strip this weekend and give it a try.
