That time a customer asked me to fix a home haircut disaster in 10 minutes

I had a guy walk into my chair last Thursday in Detroit, said his wife tried to fade his sides with kitchen scissors. He was late for a job interview and begged me to fix it fast. I looked at the mess and told him straight up, I can't perform miracles in 10 minutes. He got pissed, said he'd watched a YouTube video and knew it was easy. I spent 35 minutes blending jagged lines and evening out a half-inch gap near his ear. He paid $40 and complained the whole time, then left without even saying thanks. Has anyone else had clients blame you for their own botched home cuts?

I had a lady last month bring in a kid who took scissors to his own bangs right before school pictures. She wanted me to fix it in 15 minutes and I just laughed out loud. Like, sure let me reverse time and un-cut hair with my magic comb. I told her it would be more like an hour and she said her son cried at the end anyway so what was the point. People really think we can just glue hair back on or something. I spent 45 minutes blending and trimming and he still looked like he lost a fight with a lawnmower but she paid $50 and left saying it was good enough. Home haircuts are a nightmare every time and I bet that guy in Detroit still complains about you instead of blaming his wife's kitchen scissors.

Did you try telling them to just own the choppy look and call it a style?

Did he seriously think you could fix a sink cut in 10 minutes for a job interview? Like, what was he expecting, magic scissors and a time machine?
