Third time doing a bald fade on the same client and finally saw a clean line without any steps
Took me about 4 months of practicing on my brother every Sunday to get that smooth blend from skin to no guard, has anyone else had a specific cut that just clicked after a ton of repetition?

I read somewhere that barbers say the bald fade is actually one of the hardest cuts to master because you're basically going from completely bare skin right into hair with no guard, and any little mistake shows up as a dark line. That really stuck with me because it's so true, one tiny angle change and bam you've got a step you gotta chase down. Your brother must have some patience too, but I bet he's getting the best fades in town now. It always cracks me up how something that looks so simple to the customer takes months to get right.

One tiny angle change and bam you've got a step you gotta chase down" - that line is brutal because it's so true. My buddy tried learning fades during covid and he showed me pictures of his early attempts, looked like a ladder going up the side of his head. I can't even imagine trying to go from zero guard to skin and not messing it up, especially around the ear area where it gets real tricky. @nelson.vera you're spot on about how customers have no clue how hard the simple looking stuff is.

4 MONTHS of Sunday practice on your BROTHER? That's some serious dedication, I don't think I could stare at the back of my sibling's head that many times without losing my mind.
