Warning: That $400 vintage barber chair looked great but nearly wrecked my back
Found it at a flea market last fall, all chrome and leather, but the hydraulics were shot and the base was uneven. I figured I could fix it, but after two months of fighting with it, I just had to scrap the whole thing and eat the cost. Anyone have a reliable source for solid, used chairs that won't turn into a project?

Wait, you spent two whole months trying to fix it? That's brutal. I would have lost my mind after the first weekend. I've been burned by "vintage charm" before, but that's a whole new level of commitment to a lost cause. It's the uneven base that gets me, that's such a sneaky problem you can't really see at first. Did you ever find a decent chair after all that?

It wasn't a lost cause, just took longer than expected.
