Watched a guy at a barber expo in Chicago change how I hold clippers

I was at the Midwest Barber Expo last month and saw this older barber doing a fade demo. He held his clippers with just three fingers, not the whole fist like I always did. I tried it on a mannequin head afterward and my wrist felt way less tired after 10 minutes. Now I practice it on every client, and my lines come out straighter. Has anyone else switched their grip and noticed a difference?

Oh man, that's EXACTLY what I needed to hear. I've been struggling with wrist pain for months and just thought it was part of the job. Gonna try that three finger thing tomorrow on my first client.

My cousin is a painter and he had the same wrist problem for years. What worked for him wasn't just changing his grip but also adding a five minute ice soak after every shift. He keeps a bowl of ice water by his station and dunks his hand during breaks. Cuts the inflammation before it settles in for the night.

Yo @allen.iris that three finger grip is a game changer! My buddy Dave tried it after his carpal tunnel started acting up and he said his hand felt way better after a full day of cuts. Hes been doing it for like 6 months now and swears his fades are cleaner too.
